St. Germain and Strawberries
We don’t have a name for this brunch inspired cocktail. . . but it’s darn good. We’re open to suggestions!
It’s Friday afternoon, I’m surrounded by the debris of sewing dryer sachets for the past two days. I’m a messy sew-er. Oh, and photo props. Photo props are everywhere. And I have a mountain of my own laundry that needs doing that has nothing to with photo props. Which might be ironic, if I knew what ironic meant. Alanis Morrisette kinda killed any hope of me getting my head around that concept in 1995. Isn’t it ironic? I don’t know. Maybe?
So, I’m sitting here, contemplating my next step and counting the minutes, MINUTES until the weekend. Weekends mean breakfast in bed, lounging around (not really, I run like a crazy person. But that’s my choice, I COULD lounge, if I wanted to) in my pj’s making brunch. And sipping these things.
They have no name. Please help with that.
Anyhow, no-name cocktail has become a favorite for brunch. There’s just something about the blend of strawberries and St. Germain that is so lovely, so evocative of Summer. It’s easy to make and pretty to serve and, in my book, trumps a mimosa any day. It also has magical powers. Ok, no it doesn’t. I made that part up. But are you really reading this?
Directions:
Pour 1/2 shot of St. Germain into a champagne flute. Top with fresh orange juice and place in freezer. Allow to freeze until the top has just “set” and is a bit slushy.
While you wait, wash and stem 8-10 fresh strawberries. Place in a blender with 4 TB of bourbon and 2 TB of powdered sugar. Give it a good blend.
Once your orange juice is slushy, top your champagne flute with a just a bit of the strawberry bourbon. Adorn your glass with a fresh strawberry dusted in brown sugar. Imbibe!
Happy Weekend. Drink these and thank me later. I’ll be back next week with some fun. Fun is good, right?

These are soo good! I wondered how the top was sort of like a frozen slushy – very cool technique. I don’t normally like St. Germaine – but in this drink, it’s divine.
C’est bon!! You should think of a French type name. Unfortunately, the word for cocktail in French is cocktail and the word for St. Germain is St. Germain. LOL.
Not to mention I don’t speak a lick of French.
IZ suggested “Strawberry Delight” and I said that sounded like a condom name. Oh my.
I’ve never had St. Germain… Is it a liqueur or a sparkling wine…?
These sound delicious, though. I’d probably change the bourbon to rye. I haven’t touched a drop of bourbon since the Great Scrabble Incident of ‘aught four. I haven’t played scrabble since then either…
Name: Hmmm… how ’bout something that’s totally vague and non-committal, yet intriguing, say a “Dapper Charlie?”
That’s an adorable name! As for St. Germain, it’s a liqueur. It comes in a beautiful bottle and is made from elderflowers. I think it tastes a bit tropical and I prefer it in drinks with at least 4-5 ingredients.
And that was some Scrabble game!
I love elderberry and elderflower! I will have to get some… And yeah, the game was… interesting? No one was injured at least.
