The Small Things

It’s the small things in life that make me happy. Oh, and walk-in closets.

For those of you keeping track from the old blog, we’re in the middle of construction limbo. Not much is “finished” in this house while we wait for the powers that be to move in their own time.

The exception to this is my closet. It is finished. Done. Complete. Ok, that’s not quite true. I realized today I need to paint the door, but that’s in my own hands and I’m not waiting on anyone to do that. Just my own steam. Otherwise, you’re looking at the only completed space in this house.  I wish I could move in.

I’ve  previously posted photos of the closet over on Evidently, and at the time I was lamenting my hanger situation. I’ve been coveting velvet hangers forever, it seems. In part because they use up so much less space. My closet is “walk-in” but just barely and the jumbled mess of mismatched hangers was bugging me. However, the old budget thing came up and I decided to wait. I’m good at waiting, apparently.

I’m so glad I did! This weekend I scored the deal of a lifetime and well, I just couldn’t resist. I mean, come on… a whole organized closet for $16? Really, who I am to pass up such a deal. Such a deal! (said in my best salesman voice!) I know we’re talking hangers here, but seriously folks, this makes me giddy.

I ended up with extras (that’s the swath of black in the middle of the photos) but, considering the state of my bedroom floor, they’ll get used up quickly. There’s still a bit of the old jumble at the back, but those clothes are going to the thrift store, so I didn’t see the need to hang them on new hangers. I’m hoping that the visual will remind me to actually get rid of them!

The only down side of having everything hanging and in its place is that I can’t lament I have nothing to wear any more. I have nothing to wear that fits me, but that’s a whole different project.
